Eilidh Steel is from Helensburgh on the west coast of Scotland and started playing traditional and classical music at the age of six. She spent her childhood attending various music courses, performing with the local fiddle group, orchestras and choirs, and spent some of her final year at school on tour in Russia and Romania with a local folk band.
She studied a BA Honours degree in Scottish Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Since graduating has been in great demand as a performer, composer and workshop tutor. www.eilidhsteel.com |
Alice Thorsell is a Swedish fiddler who has her roots in the beautiful county of Dalarna. She picked up her violin at the age of four, and she soon started to perform with her two sisters. At age 16 she attended the Falun Conservatoire of Music for studies in classical violin. During this time she participated in projects concerning swedish folk music, singing, jazz and she also discovered the joy of improvisation.
Alice based herself in Scotland for a couple of years to immerse herself in traditional Scottish music and various other styles. She is currently studying Jazz violin at Musikkonservatoriet Falun, Sweden. |
